Film- Candy

About Candy:

"Candy, a beautiful young painter, is in the first throes of love with Dan, a Some-time poet.Their love intoxicates, like paradise, like Eden: they care only for its increase, for the abandonment to pleasure. In Heroin they find the limitlessness they are seeking. Their future together is invincible and Candy believes that they will be together forever. But as their heroin habits gets the better of them and their money dwindles, the dark side of addition changes everything"

An extract fom Candy's poem:

Once upon a time, there was Candy and Dan.

Things were very hot that year.

All the wax was melting in the trees.

He would climb balconies, climb everywhere, do anything for

her, oh Danny boy.

Thousands of birds, the tiniest of birds, adorned her hair.

Everything was gold.

He was handsome and a very good criminal.

We lived on sunlight and chocolate bars.

It was the afternoon of extravagant delight.

We are a proper family now with cats and chickens and

runner beans.

Everywhere i looked

Sometimes i hate you.

Friday- i didnt mean that, mother of the blueness.

Angel of the storm.

You pointed at the sky, that one called sirius or dog star, but

on here on earth.

Fly away sun.

Ha ha fucking ha you are so funny Dan.

I broke your head on the back of the bed but the baby he died

in the morning.

I gave him a name.

His name was thomas.

Poor little god.

His heart beats like a voodoo drum.

Selfless

Jimi Hendrix once said: "I used to live in a room full of mirrors; all i could see was me. I take my Spirit and I crash my mirrors, now the whole world is here for me to see"

Being self indulgent limits and blinds your heart, its a nasty concoction of vanity and jealousy which is why I find fondness in this quote; He sees that it was up to him to break the reflection of just himself to survey the world around him and to set his spirit free.

Michael Jackson also suggested a change in reflection in his song man in the mirror: "I'm starting with the man in the mirror, I'm asking him to change his ways, no message could have been any clearer, it you wanna make the world a better place take a look at yourself and make that change"

"Our remedies oft in ourselves to lie, which we ascribe to heaven"- William Shakespeare
